Earlier in the week, I posted a link on Facebook to a YouTube video of Allegri’s Miserere — I was bemoaning the fact that we’re no longer living in Dublin to hear the wonderful Lassus Scholars sing this in St Kevin’s Harrington Street several times over the course of the week. This is, hands down, my favourite — my “top choon”, as a friend commented. 😉 We got married in St Kevin’s and had the Lassus Scholars sing at our wedding several years ago… I was rather disappointed that we couldn’t ask them to sing this (given that it was in October and not in Holy Week 🙄) but we had this instead, which would be another “top choon” in my books.
So, needless to say I was mightily pleased to stumble across this video, uploaded yesterday by the director of the Lassus Scholars, Dr Ite O’Donovan. I don’t tend to go rummaging on YouTube very often, so had completely missed the fact that she has a channel there with all sorts of delights from the choir, including this longer version of the Miserere from Good Friday 2019.
Anyway, enjoy. And have a happy (and holy) Easter from all of us in the madhouse. 🙂
